Negro Leagues Barnstorming Tour
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) has created unique national traveling exhibitions that offer interesting and entertaining perspectives on the scope and magnitude of the professional Negro Baseball Leagues and their impact on the social advancement of America. The following is an overview of the exhibits. NOTE: A standard exhibit booking runs 8 weeks except for “They Were All Stars.”
DISCOVER GREATNESS: AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE NEGRO LEAGUES
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) has created five uniquely different national traveling exhibitions that offer interesting and entertaining perspectives on the scope and magnitude of the professional Negro Baseball Leagues and their impact on the social advancement of America. BOOKING FEE: $5,000 plus shipping and handling (8-week display)
NEGRO LEAGUES BEISBOL
Developed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in 2014 to honor and explore the connections of African American baseball history to Hispanic cultures, communities and countries. This is a deep, rich history with origins in the late 1800s. The exhibition features profiles of significant baseball players, a timeline of American and Hispanic baseball history, and detailed baseball histories of several countries.

SHADES OF GREATNESS

In August of 2003, the NLBM made available to the public the first-ever collaborative professional art exhibit inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball. The critically acclaimed exhibition features 35 original works of art produced by 28 diverse professional artists from across the country that interpret the Negro Leagues experience on-and-off the playing field. Renowned artist Kadir Nelson headlines the talented roster of artists who participated in Shades of Greatness.

BUCK O’NEIL: RIGHT ON TIME
The exhibit chronicles the remarkable life and times of Negro Leagues legend John “Buck” O’Neil and is adapted from his acclaimed biography “I Was Right on Time.” Born the grandson of slaves, the exhibit traces O’Neil’s remarkable baseball career and the obstacles he overcame to become baseball’s grand ambassador through rare photographs and compelling video.

THEY WERE ALL STARS
Developed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in conjunction with Kansas City’s hosting of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in 2012, the free-standing exhibit chronicles Negro League players who became Major League All-Stars. From Jackie Robinson’s breaking of the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 until 1959, when the Boston Red Sox became the last team to integrate, 20 Negro League players transitioned into the Majors and became All-Stars. Today, only seven of that illustrious group of 20 are still alive: Hank Aaron (Indianapolis Clowns), Willie Mays (Birmingham Black Barons), Ernie Banks (Kansas City Monarchs), Monte Irvin (Newark Eagles), Don Newcombe (Newark Eagles), Minnie Minoso (New York Cubans) and George Altman (Kansas City Monarchs). The exhibit showcases rare photos, biographical sketches and other interesting factoids designed to give fans a greater understanding of the immediate impact that Negro Leagues had on Major League Baseball.
